Aims and Objectives of the foundation
The "Fundación don Quijote" proposes the following objectives:
- Support educational, cultural, scientific and academic projects aimed at enhancing the prestige and significance of the Spanish language and Spanish culture on an international level.
- Promote educational and training activities in Spanish language and culture internationally, particularly the development of these programs in countries lacking economic resources.
- Boost the study of Spanish culture and language in Spain amongst the most economically disadvantaged, such as immigrants, to favor their entrance into the labor market.
- Promote and carry out actions designed to strengthen the position of the Spanish language as one of the world’s most important languages.
- Collaborate to encourage interest in Spain, her language and her culture by supporting any initiative that leads toward that end, particularly in those countries in which such actions do not presently exist.
- Promote, carry out or contribute to the social and professional incorporation of people with learning difficulties, with special attention toward those persons with physical or mental handicaps, through the presentation of training courses, workshops and seminars applying new technologies.
- Support the creation of bilingual schools where considered necessary, while using scholarship programs to help those foreigners interested in completing university studies in Spain, learning the Spanish language or studying Spanish culture.
- Promote and collaborate on projects that combine the study of the Spanish language with any other discipline that fosters Spain’s international prominence while also meeting the growing demand among an important part of professional foreigners for courses of Spanish combined with a second discipline, for example, courses of Spanish + audiovisual Media, Spanish + Fashion and design, Spanish + Flamenco, Spanish + Enology, Spanish + Gastronomy, Spanish + Economics, Spanish + new Technologies, etc.
- Organize and participate in cultural and social events and activities to which any aspect of Spanish culture is relevant, for example, diverse international exchanges, forums, congresses, debates, courses, exhibits, marches, etc.
- Promote outside of Spain any cultural or educational activity that contributes to knowledge of Spanish culture and the Spanish language.
- Support and collaborate on public and private projects which combine culture and tourism (literary routes, historic routes, etc.) with special priority for those projects representing reciprocal collaboration with other cultural foundations or private or public entities that contribute to the promotion of Spanish culture and language.
- Promote and protect studies, publications, research and any other cultural activity related to the language, culture and current situation of Spain, especially those in digital format, for example, online materials for teachers and students of Spanish.
- Strengthen Spain’s standing as a destination for television filming (shows, short films, etc.)
- Contribute to the dissemination, promotion, development, research and protection of Spanish language and culture within the general framework of Hispanic culture.
- Achieve the promotion of digital content in Spanish by creating Web pages, applications and games and by fostering collaboration among the virtual internet communities that distribute, promote and encourage the use of Spanish as a common language.
- Promote reading, knowledge of Spanish literary texts, the arts and books in general as a vehicle of communication in the Spanish language.
- Edit, catalog, design, produce or publish cultural products in any format (print, audio, audiovisual, digital, among others) that disseminate the Spanish language along with any specific content intended to increase public awareness of the language.
- Organize exchanges between professionals in the field of Spanish teaching, teachers, students, and other members of the educational community of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) (Spanish: Español como Lengua Extranjera) at every level with particular attention to the propagation of the profession of Spanish language teacher in Europe.
- Develop computer applications or technological products that use Spanish, the dissemination of Spanish, and Spanish language learning as basic elements of interaction with the user, emphasizing the application of information and communications technology to the educational process through the promotion of self-directed, online and distance education.
