The final declaration of the union of Vice-chancellors conference of the Mediterranean.
EPUF organised a conference for the Union of Vice-chancellors within the Mediterranean, which took place on the 29th July in Barcelona (Spain). In this document, a bet was made regarding a boost in further education and research into the Euro-Mediterranean area, raising a series of proposals favouring an easy dialogue between universities in the Mediterranean basin and Europe, to the Ministerial conference. Amongst the conclusions, they talked of the creation of an inter-university council for the Mediterranean Union, the creation of a research and further education observatory, as well as logical founding of assessment and the quality of the opening standard of education at university level.
Ruta Quetzal BBVA
Published on February 18th 2010Ruta Quetzal is an annual expedition for people from Spanish-speaking countries, or students of Spanish from other countries, along the magical and enigmatic Caminos Blancas Mayas in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. This year marks the 25th anniversary of these expeditions, and to mark this, the expedition is being extended to include Spain as well, where the adventurers will follow the Camino de Santiago. One lucky Spanish student from the UK has the fantastic opportunity to join these hispanohablantes on the expedition, learn about the secrets of the Yucatán peninsula and practise their Spanish, as well as receiving a £6000 grant to help them with their costs on the trip.
Teachers from the Modern Languages department of schools all over the UK put forward students who they think could benefit from this amazing experience. From this group, 30 finalists are carefully selected. These finalists are then invited for a selection day at the Cervantes Institute in London, a great day for everyone involved, where students have the opportunity to sample Spanish food and enjoy other aspects of Spanish culture. 10 prizes are awarded, which as well as the first prize of representing the UK at Ruta Quetzal, also includes trips to all over Spain and free language courses with our sponsors, Don Quijote and Enforex. This is an unmissable opportunity for people who are passionate about the Spanish language and Hispanic culture.
Applicants must be UK passport holders, have been born in 1993 or 1994, be studying in the UK and not have been in the 30 finalists in any previous year.
